PRESIDENT DILMA ROUSSEF LAUNCHES THE BETTER BRAZIL PLAN

In the last 3 days in Brasilia, the President of Brazil launched the Better Brazil Plan. For the President, Brazil is prepared to face the crisis but is unable declare it "immune" to its effects. The plan, devised for the period of 2011-2014, aims to increase the competitiveness of domestic industry by encouraging technological innovation and by adding value.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce, with the participation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Planning, The Ministry of Budget, and the the Treasury and Civil House, the Better Brazil Plan is a continuation of two other recent policies to strengthen the sector: the Industry, Technological, and Foreign Trade (PITCE) from 2004, and the Productive Development Policy (PDP), launched in 2008.

More comprehensive than the previous policies, the Better Brazil Plan provides a set of measures to stimulate investment and innovation. These measure include supporting foreign trade, the defense industry, and the internal market by providing tax cuts, financing innovation, applying resources to high and medium technology technology sectors, and strengthening micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, among other measures.

No último dia 3, em Brasília, foi lançado pela Presidente da República o Plano Brasil Maior. Para a presidente, o Brasil está preparado para enfrentar a crise, mas não pode se declarar "imune" aos seus efeitos. O Plano, idealizado para o período 2011-2014, tem como objetivo aumentar a competitividade da indústria nacional, a partir do incentivo à inovação tecnológica e à agregação de valor.

Coordenado pelo Ministério do Desenvolvimento, Indústria e Comércio, com a participação dos Ministérios de Ciência e Tecnologia, Planejamento, Orçamento e Gestão, Fazenda e Casa Civil, o Brasil Maior dá continuidade a duas outras recentes políticas de fortalecimento do setor: a Política Industrial, Tecnológica e de Comércio Exterior (PITCE), de 2004, e a Política de Desenvolvimento Produtivo (PDP), lançada em 2008.

Mais abrangente que as políticas anteriores, o Plano prevê um conjunto de medidas de estímulo ao investimento e à inovação, apoio ao comércio exterior e defesa da indústria e do mercado interno, tais como: desonerações tributárias; financiamento à inovação; aplicação de recursos em setores de alta e média-alta tecnologia; fortalecimento das micro, pequenas e médias empresas inovadoras; entre outras medidas.
