MINC CREATE NEW CENTER FOR THE COLLECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF COPYRIGHTS
The Ministry of Culture ("MinC") will create a new entity linked to MinC that will be in charge of monitoring the collective management of copyrights. The new structure will also be assigned to gather the records of artistic and cultural production in the country and encourage studies and discussions on this issue of copyrights. This decision relies on the National Culture Plan (PNC), approved in December 2010, which created the Center of Studies and the Promotion of Research on Copyright.
The new center will focus on the unification of the records of artistic and cultural works, gathering all the information about creative production in the country. According to the Director of Intellectual Rights, this will allow the preservation of a priceless cultural heritage, and provide access to information and will enable the use of statistical data in the formulation of public policies in the area of culture. The future entity will also promote awareness to society about the works that are in public domain.

A nova estrutura será também utilizada para reunir os registros de produção artística e cultural do país e promover estudos e debates sobre esta questão. Esta decisão baseia-se no Plano Nacional de Cultura (PNC), aprovado em Dezembro de 2010 e que também criou o Centro de Estudos e Fomento à Pesquisa sobre Direitos Autorais

De acordo com o Diretor de Direitos Intelectuais, esta decisão permitirá a preservação de um patrimônio cultural inestimável e fornecerá acesso às informações, permitindo o uso de dados estatísticos na formulação de políticas públicas na área da cultura. A futura entidade facilitará também a consciência da sociedade sobre as obras que estão em domínio público.
